Lotus Evora - Speed and Style By Johnny Tipler
Johnny relates in great detail the complete story of Evora over its entire 13 year production life as the flagship of the Lotus range. Covering its concept, design, development and manufacture and including several road trips, this is a very full account of both a fantastic car and a very important model in recent Lotus history.
With a renowned team led by CEO Mike Kimberley and including such legendary Lotus names as Roger Becker (and latterly his son Matt), Tony Shute, Russell Carr, Chris Dunster, Luke Bennett and Richard Rackham amongst others, Evora has an impeccable pedigree and its success helped Mike return Lotus to profit after years of losses.
Launched in 2008 after an incredibly short - but very comprehensive - design and testing period, the Type 122 Evora took Lotus back into the grand tourer market whilst still retaining a true Lotus sports car feel. New standards were established in both handling and ride and I’ll never forget being driven around the old Hethel circuit by Roger at speed in one of the development cars - an amazing and very impressive experience.
All of the many Evora variants are covered in detail and the well-written and very readable text is accompanied by over 300 stunning images, many previously unseen. This book tells you not just the story of a great car but also an insight into Lotus Cars and how the company changed during what turned out to be a turbulent period in its long history. Highly recommended.
